Working in Medford
Medford sits just north of Somerville along the Mystic, and the run up from Highland Avenue is quick outside the Route 16 and Route 28 rush. Medford Square, the Tufts campus streets, and the Wellington station lots are the usual call spots. Residential streets in West Medford are the calmest jobs of the day.
Parking and getting there
Medford Square curbside and the Wellington MBTA lot are the easiest meet points. The side streets around Tufts are permit-parking; I pull curbside. Route 16 in the afternoon is the one slow window to avoid for a non-emergency job.
Vehicles in Medford
A practical mix — crossovers and pickup trucks sit alongside the student compacts near Tufts. Ford F-150s and Jeeps show up more here than in Cambridge, and both are handled on site when a working key exists.

A note on response time
Medford responds fast because it is adjacent. Wellington-area calls sometimes route through the Mystic Reservation to avoid the McGrath Highway traffic.
Questions about Medford
- Can you come to the Tufts campus?
- Yes. Meet at the nearest curbside or lot. Student vehicles need the registration or title and a matching ID before any key is cut.
- I lost my key at the Wellington lot. How fast?
- Wellington is one of the closer Medford spots. Off-peak it is roughly fifteen minutes; at the evening rush it can be longer — I give the honest current time.
